Triity Chapter Historical Sketch

Trinity Chapter #980 was founded on November 11, 2002 by Sis. LaToya Smith, Sis. Tonya Riddick and Sis. Jacquetta Montgomery. We were not a part of any affiliate at the time. The conversation of forming the chapter began on our way back from a trip we took to Daytona Beach Florida. I was highly influenced by the two sister’s to start the chapter and I was not very sure on the processes to take, but I started inquiring upon our arrival from the trip. I went on the internet and started researching different processes of contact information.  Yet I still to come to no conclusion on what to do. I continued to research different affiliates hoping for a resolution.

In December 2002, we had more ladies that were already sister’s seeking interest into to making this chapter come into existence. We had a small interest meeting at Sis. Tonya Riddick’s home where more sisters came into our creation. Sis. Jennifer Haulcy, Sis. Yolanda White and  Sis . Brandy Blue along with myself, Sis. Tonya Riddick and Sis. Jacquetta Montgomery . On January 12, 2003, we interviewed 14 ladies to be a part of the new chapter that we still hadn’t came up with a name for. We had a meeting after the interview process about what affiliate we wanted to be a part of. Myself and Sis. Haulcy made a commitment that if we were to join any other affiliate it would be Modern Free.

We began telling the other ladies about the fun times we had with the organization and how educational the organization was to us. We talked for hours and it was voted on Modern Free. But the next topic was, “Who do we contact?”  We were in limbo because we were out of touch with all the past members that were in the organization and I told them to let me handle it. We still had to find a name to call this chapter. I went home and I started brainstorming for a name. I wanted a biblical name but something of power. I went through the bible and I saw Vashti. I thought no not strong enough. I sat there and I thought and thought and  it hit me, my god daughter, Trinity. I said that is it. That’s what it will be. I called everyone and told them the name and I told them a short story of why Trinity.

Trinity was chosen for the name that it stands for: The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. The reason I chose the name is because my god daughter Trinity was very special to me. She had a rough way of making it into the world at birth and she was blessed to be here. Sis. Jacquetta Montgomery came up with the number 908 for my son’s birthday, 9th month 8th  day. Our number was already used so it was changed around a bit to 980, but it still has the same meaning to us.

We had our chapter name and number and no contact with anyone from Modern Free. I went to the Modern Free website and sent an email to Sis. Elaine Miller and I received no response. I contacted Sis. Melissa Lymon and asked her for Sis. Lillie Kirkpatrick’s address and she was like “No, what are you calling my momma for?” She was all in jokes but she gave it to me and that is where the big breakthrough came. Sis. Kirkpatrick in turn wrote me back and passed me on to Sis. Tammye Reese. Sis.Tammye Reese gave me the information to contact Sis. Peggy Hooker. I contacted her with our interest and Sis. & Bro. Hooker came to Fayetteville and started our U D Charter paperwork. Trinity Chapter was an official U D Charter on May 11, 2004. We had seven members. We continued to recruit members after loosing 14 members to another affiliate. We continued to keep our motivation and worked harder at recruiting members.Trinity Chapter initiated 18 ladies after receiving our U D Charter and we received our Warranted Charter on May 12, 2005. After hard work and determination, Trinity Chapter
